Utterly devastating!

Since we started this site,I have done everything but go door to door in Fredericksburg to find Caren Sue.

We grew up on Dutton, were "sweet" on each other from the age of three or four (maybe because her grandfather WAS (Curtis Candy), and were instantly separated by the sisters of St Mary when we arrived hand-in-hand for first grade.  We never had another class together.

She and I were often "parents" to Cecilia when playing house in the back yard.

Her mom was always nice to my mother and me.  Evelyn often "caught" me visiting the old home place and would insist we visit to "catch up".  Generally more than an hour.

it was great to see everyone at our reunion, but I missed not getting to see Caren Sue.  Now, I've missed getting back in touch and being able to say goodbye.

I am standing by the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze
and starts for the blue ocean.
She is an object of beauty and strength,
and I stand and watch
until at last she hangs like a speck of white cloud
just where the sun and sky come down to mingle with each other.

Then someone at my side says, ‘There she goes!
Gone where? Gone from my sight – that is all.

She is just as large in mast and hull and spar
as she was when she left my side
and just as able to bear her load of living freight
to the places of destination.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her.

And just at the moment when someone at my side says,
‘There she goes! ‘ ,
there are other eyes watching her coming,
and other voices ready to take up the glad shout :
‘Here she comes!’

I know, your journey to heaven is already complete.  Until we meet again, put in a good word for me.
