French class with Madame
Posted Tuesday, December 1, 2009 06:56 PM

Madame LaTesse (Lattesse?) taught French to many of us in 8th grade.  She was a very kind and funny lady with a few eccentricities.  Not a beauty nor a "spring chicken," and I don't think she wore underwear (and at her age and size, she should have!), but I liked her and enjoyed her class.  Anyone remember her nickname among the students?  (It wasn't nice!)

does anyone remember Sister Bernadine

I had Sister Bernardine as a first grade teacher and she was awesome. My grandmother loved Monsignor Brady (who didn't?) and we used to go to St. Edward's some time. I saw Sister Bernardine at St. Edward's teaching CCD after she was transferred from St. Cecilia's.

I was in Mrs. Barnett's first grade class, but I remember Sister Bernardine because she taught catechism and prepared us for first communion.  I remember her telling us on the day of our first communion that we were to face the altar at all times, even if the back of the church fell in.  Mostly I remember that she was a very kind lady who seemed to genuinely enjoy children.  I always felt that she treated me with the same respect she gave to adults.
